How 5G will change so much .
The Wall Street Journal has had a lot of coverage recently on 5G. See story yesterday, "How 5G Will Change So Much More Than Your Phone". This was part of a 10-page special section on 5G, including a 2-page centerpiece advertisement by AT&T. NISLAPP Senior Research Fellow, Timothy Schoechle, PhD, says, "This Journal Report promotes the false narrative that 5G will revolutionize the Internet changing its basic nature into something remarkably different and advanced by enabling totally new applications. Like many journalists (e.g., Tom Friedman, NYT) this story conflates the Internet (and multi-service core network) with the (undeveloped and unstandardized) 5G wireless access network. This discourse takes
advantage of the public's lack of understanding of the difference between the core network and the access network. This piece provides an opportunity to analyze and deconstruct the myths that are being created."
