A Superior Court judge has upheld Hillsborough's denial of a cell phone tower next to the Woods Road Firehouse.

Verizon had entered a lease with the fire company to construct a 120-foot cell tower next to the firehouse on Woods Road and about 1,500 feet from Woods Road School with more than 50 homes within 1,000 feet.
Verizon argued that the tower was needed to improve coverage to 1,700 homes in Hillsborough, 400 homes in Franklin and 100 homes in Montgomery.
Roy Horowitz, the fire company's former vice president and neighborhood resident, testified before the board that he was unable to use his cell phone from home because calls would be dropped. He also said cell phone service was limited around the firehouse and there had been no service for the laptops on the fire trucks on several emergency calls.
